Show Crush: Mighty Tiny / That Handsome Devil / TAB the Band / Cities & States at Church tomorrow

The cool cats over at MySecretBoston are presenting their First Annual Holiday Throwdown at Church tomorrow night. Throwdown, indeed, these four bands don’t really ever slack off. It’s sure to be a night of genre-bending mayhem, music-wise; and Narragansett is sponsoring, so there’s a chance you’ll be taken care of beverage-wise.

Sporting Venetian masks straight out of Alex DeLarge’s fantasies, Mighty Tiny will close the show out with a frenetic mix of genres that has become their signature. When we say they mix everything, we don’t mean they mix different elements of rock that are all pretty closely related anyway, we mean they mix everything – theatrical influences from opera and Broadway, classical arrangements, blues rock, prog, folk, Romani, and whatever else finds its way into their collective band brain. They work their alchemy to blend all of these things, and then they unleash their creation into the world. That Handsome Devil may have moved to NY, but they got their start here, and they’ll always be welcome back. Frontyeller Godforbid will preen and strut around the stage, barking and spitting out lyrics like a crazed street preacher while the band backs him up with a funk fueled blend of guitar, bass, horns, and swagger. TAB the Band will bring their arena rock chops meets punk swagger, and multi-instrumentalist Josh Richards will get everything started with his Cities & States project.
